DUSU Elections 2025: Campaigns quieter, cleaner amid stricter rules!

The 2025 Delhi University Students' Union (DUSU) elections have marked a significant departure from previous years, with campaigns being notably quieter and cleaner. This shift is attributed to the stringent anti-defacement guidelines implemented by Delhi University and the vigilant oversight of the Delhi High Court.

In August 2025, the university introduced comprehensive measures to curb vandalism, including a ₹1 lakh bond for candidates and a ban on posters, rallies, and loudspeakers . Additionally, college principals were appointed as "anti-defacement heads" to monitor and prevent defacement activities within their institutions.

The Delhi High Court has been actively involved in overseeing the election process. In September 2025, the court expressed concern over violations of anti-defacement guidelines and directed Delhi University and the Delhi Police to take effective measures to ensure orderly elections.

These combined efforts have contributed to a more disciplined and respectful election campaign, setting a precedent for future student elections.
