The film amassed a net collection of ₹88.26 crore during its eight-day extended opening week, surpassing the earnings of recent blockbusters such as Fahadh Faasil's "Aavesham" (₹85.15 crore) and Prithviraj's own "The Goat Life" (₹85 crore). 

Serving as a direct sequel to the 2019 hit "Lucifer," "L2: Empuraan" reunites Mohanlal and director-actor Prithviraj Sukumaran. The film had an impressive opening, collecting ₹21 crore on its first day, with ₹18.6 crore coming from the Malayalam version in Kerala alone. 

Currently, "L2: Empuraan" trails only Tovino Thomas's "2018" (₹92.5 crore) and the record-breaking "Manjummel Boys" directed by Chidambaram S. Poduva (₹141.61 crore) in the list of highest-grossing Malayalam films within India. 

Internationally, "Empuraan" has also made a significant impact. The film crossed the ₹100 crore mark in overseas markets within just four days of its release, setting a new benchmark for Malayalam cinema. This achievement underscores the film's global appeal and the growing popularity of Malayalam films among international audiences. 

The success of "L2: Empuraan" has heightened anticipation for the third installment in the series. Fans are eager to see how the cinematic universe will expand, especially with the inclusion of Mohanlal's son, Pranav, who is set to portray a younger version of Stephen Nedumpally in the upcoming film.
