8 AAP MLAs Quit Right Before Delhi Elections

In a major political shake-up ahead of the 2025 Delhi Assembly elections, eight sitting MLAs from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) have resigned after being dropped from the party's candidate list.

The Kejriwal-led AAP, which is contesting all 70 seats in the national capital, has replaced 20 incumbent legislators with fresh faces, including turncoats from the BJP and Congress.

The eight MLAs who resigned include:

1. Girish Soni (Madipur)

2. Rohit Mehraulia (Trilokpuri)

3. Madan Lal (Kasturba Nagar)

4. Rajesh Rishi (Janakpuri)

5. Naresh Yadav (Mehrauli)

6. Bhavna Gaur (Palam)

7. Pawan Kumar Sharma (Adarsh Nagar)

8. BS Joon (Bijwasan)

Why Did They Quit?

Girish Soni: Raised concerns about internal issues within the party, hinting at controversies like "Sheeshmahal." In his resignation, he questioned whether AAP still represents the 'common man.'

Rohit Mehraulia: Expressed disappointment over the party’s failure to uplift the Dalit/Valmiki community, accusing AAP of exploiting them for political gains while neglecting employment issues.

Madan Lal: Felt betrayed after being denied a ticket and stated that he has lost trust in AAP and its leadership.

Bhavna Gaur: Announced her resignation, saying she no longer has faith in Arvind Kejriwal or the party.

Rajesh Rishi: Accused AAP of abandoning its founding principles of transparency and corruption-free governance.

Pawan Kumar Sharma: Expressed sadness over the party’s deviation from its original ideology and submitted his resignation.

BS Joon: Criticized AAP for becoming centralized and opaque, moving away from its democratic values.

Naresh Yadav: Cited "rampant corruption" as the reason for his exit, stating that AAP was founded on the vision of eliminating corruption but has now embraced it instead.

With the elections scheduled for February 5 and results to be declared on February 8, AAP faces a tough challenge navigating internal discontent while battling for a third consecutive term in Delhi.
