As of March 31, 2025, the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season has featured several matches with notable performances.
Delhi Capitals vs. Sunrisers Hyderabad: Delhi Capitals secured a seven-wicket victory over Sunrisers Hyderabad. Mitchell Starc was instrumental in this win, achieving his first five-wicket haul in the IPL with figures of 5-35. His performance dismantled Hyderabad's batting lineup, leading to their dismissal for 163. Delhi chased down the target with four overs to spare.
Punjab Kings vs. Gujarat Titans: Punjab Kings triumphed over the reigning champions, Gujarat Titans, with a commanding performance. Shreyas Iyer led from the front, scoring an unbeaten 97 off 42 balls, including nine sixes and five fours. Despite being close to a century, Iyer prioritized team success by encouraging his partner, Shashank Singh, to play aggressively in the final over. This strategy propelled Punjab to a total of 243-5. Gujarat's response fell short, ending at 232-5.
Chennai Super Kings vs. Mumbai Indians: In a match highlighting the value of spin bowling, Chennai Super Kings emerged victorious over Mumbai Indians. Afghanistan's Noor Ahmad delivered an exceptional performance with figures of 4-18, restricting Mumbai to 155-9. Despite Mumbai's efforts, including debutant Vignesh Puthur's 3-32, Chennai's spin trio, comprising Ahmad, Ravindra Jadeja, and Ravichandran Ashwin, proved decisive on a turning track.
Lucknow Super Giants vs. Sunrisers Hyderabad: Lucknow Super Giants secured their first win of the season by chasing down 191 in just 16.1 overs against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Nicholas Pooran was promoted to the top order and justified the decision by scoring a blistering 70 off 26 balls, featuring six sixes and six fours. His aggressive batting set the tone for the chase, leading to a five-wicket victory.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs. Chennai Super Kings: Royal Challengers Bengaluru defeated Chennai Super Kings by 50 runs. Rajat Patidar was named Player of the Match for his 51 off 32 balls. Josh Hazlewood also made a significant impact with bowling figures of 3/21, earning him the title of Cricinfo's Most Valuable Player of the match.
Sunrisers Hyderabad vs. Rajasthan Royals: Sunrisers Hyderabad opened their IPL 2025 campaign with a dominant win over Rajasthan Royals. Batting first, SRH posted a massive 286/6, the second-highest total in IPL history.
