Tea-time in India is incomplete without snacks - but our love for salty, processed bites is silently fuelling a health crisis: hypertension. With over 200 million Indians affected, the need to cut back on sodium is urgent. But healthy doesn't have to mean boring.
MasterChef Ajay Chopra offers three delicious, low-sodium snacks that are big on flavour and light on salt.
His Masala Makhana replaces salt with kala namak and spices, while Healthy Bhel Puri uses tangy chutneys and puffed rice for a crunchy, zesty bite. For something munchy yet light, Poha Chivda blends roasted nuts, poha, and aromatic tempering - seasoned cleverly with MSG, which has 70% less sodium than regular salt.
These recipes prove that with smart seasoning, you can snack guilt-free. So next chai time, skip the chips - go flavourful and heart-smart!
