Arsenic Found in Bihar’s Crops, Here’s What You Need to Know!

The Bihar government has launched an urgent investigation after high levels of arsenic were found in crops across several districts. The contamination, primarily linked to groundwater used for irrigation, poses serious health risks, including cancer and organ damage. Experts believe prolonged exposure to arsenic-laden water has led to its accumulation in rice and wheat, the region's staple foods.

Authorities are now testing soil and water samples to identify affected areas. Farmers have been advised to use alternative water sources, and discussions are underway to introduce arsenic-resistant crop varieties. Additionally, the government is considering awareness campaigns to educate locals on the dangers of consuming contaminated produce.

With arsenic contamination already a significant issue in Bihar's groundwater, this new discovery has raised concerns about food safety and long-term public health impacts. The state is now racing against time to contain the crisis before it escalates further.
