The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has announced a change in its schedule for Holi 2025, with metro services starting at 2:30 pm on Friday, March 14.
This decision marks a shift from the usual operating hours, as metro services typically begin at 5:00 am and run until 11:00 pm. The DMRC clarified in an X post that all metro lines, including the Airport Express Line, will remain unavailable until 2:30 pm on Holi.
After 2:30 pm, metro services will resume from the terminal stations on all lines and will continue to operate as usual. This adjustment is made to accommodate the festival's unique timing, which includes festivities like Holika Dahan on the evening of March 13 and the vibrant Dhuleti on March 14.
Holi, the much-anticipated festival of colors, is a two-day celebration marking the arrival of spring and the triumph of good over evil. The first day, known as Holika Dahan, involves lighting a bonfire to honour Holika, symbolizing the destruction of evil.
The second day, Dhuleti, is a joyous occasion where people engage in playful throwing of coloured powders, promoting love, harmony, and the washing away of past grievances.
With this change in metro timings, DMRC ensures the safety and convenience of travelers, allowing them to enjoy the festivities while maintaining a smooth public transportation experience.
