Sarada Bai, a Pakistani national who has lived in India for over 35 years, has been ordered to leave the country by Odisha police. Her visa has been canceled as part of India's non-military measures following the deadly Pahalgam terror attack. Authorities warned that legal action will be taken if she fails to comply.
Sarada Bai married Mahesh Kukreja, an Indian Hindu, years ago and settled in Bolangir. Her children and grandchildren are Indian citizens. Despite having documents like a voter ID, she was never granted Indian citizenship.
With folded hands, she made an emotional appeal: "I have no one in Pakistan. My passport is too old. My entire life is here. Please let me stay in the country I've called home for decades."
The case has sparked sympathy, but local police insist action will be taken according to the law. The atmosphere remains tense.
