India shines on the global stage with Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics!

India is celebrating the 2025 Breakthrough Prize in Fundamental Physics, awarded to over 13,500 researchers from more than 70 countries for their contributions to CERN’s Large Hadron Collider (LHC) experiments.

The award honors the collaborative efforts of four major LHC experiments: ATLAS, CMS, ALICE, and LHCb, which have collectively advanced our understanding of fundamental physics. These experiments have provided detailed measurements of Higgs boson properties, confirmed the symmetry-breaking mechanism of mass generation, discovered new strongly interacting particles, studied rare processes, and explored the nature of the universe at the shortest distances and most extreme conditions .
