Over 500 days and 50,000 km, Mumbai engineer Sushil Reddy has proven what electric vehicles (EVs) can really achieve in India. Famous for his solar-powered cycle world record, Sushil has now entered the India Book of Records for the maximum distance covered in an EV by an individual.
In February 2025, he began a 10,027 km round-trip from Mumbai, driving through 28 cities across 8 states in his Tata Curvv.ev. Along the way, he stopped at 25 universities to conduct awareness sessions on electric mobility.
Sushil highlights that EVs are more efficient than petrol or diesel cars—up to 90% efficiency compared to 20–30% in ICE vehicles. While initial costs are higher due to batteries, running costs are much lower—just ₹3/km compared to ₹10/km for fuel cars.
He also busts the myth of “range anxiety,” explaining that apps like Plugshare map charging stations across India, and a one-hour charge can add 200 km of range.
From solar cycles to electric SUVs, Sushil’s rides are not just adventures—they’re proof that EVs are the future of Indian roads.
