Neeraj Chopra shuts down criticism over inviting Arshad Nadeem amid attack tensions

Olympic gold medallist Neeraj Chopra has addressed online backlash after he invited Pakistani javelin thrower Arshad Nadeem to participate in the upcoming Neeraj Chopra Classic, a premier athletics meet in India.

The invite sparked a wave of criticism from some social media users, questioning Chopra's patriotism and even attacking his family.

Chopra, however, stood firm on his decision, saying the gesture was rooted purely in sportsmanship.

"Sport has always been about respect, unity, and pushing each other to do better," he shared in response. "Targeting my integrity and my family over a sporting invite is deeply disappointing."

Chopra and Nadeem have long shared mutual respect, often seen congratulating each other at global events, including the Olympics and World Championships.

By extending this invitation, Chopra not only promoted international camaraderie but also reminded fans that sport can and should rise above borders and politics.
