OpenAI CEO Sam Altman has admitted that the company's GPUs are overheating due to the surge in demand for Ghibli-style image generation. In a post on X, he said, "Our GPUs are melting!" To manage this, OpenAI is temporarily slowing image generation and plans to limit free users to three images per day.
What's the Ghibli Image Trend?
OpenAI recently introduced a built-in image generation tool in ChatGPT. Users quickly began transforming their photos into Studio Ghibli-style art, inspired by the famous Japanese animation studio. The trend became so popular that even Altman changed his profile picture to a Ghibli-style version of himself.
What is Studio Ghibli?
Founded in 1985, Studio Ghibli is known for its beautiful hand-drawn animation and rich storytelling. Some of its most famous films include Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, and Howl's Moving Castle.
Who Can Use the AI Image Tool?
The feature is available for Plus, Pro, and Team users, while free users will have limited access soon. However, the free rollout has been delayed due to overwhelming demand. OpenAI is working to restore normal speeds, so fans can keep creating magical AI art!
