PM Modi "fully reciprocates" Trump's friendship remark amid Trade tensions!

Amid escalating trade tensions between New Delhi and Washington, Prime Minister Narendra Modi offered a warm and measured response to President Donald Trump’s recent assurance that the two leaders would “always be friends.” Taking to social media, Modi wrote:

“Deeply appreciate and fully reciprocate President Trump’s sentiments and positive assessment of our ties. India and the US have a very positive and forward-looking Comprehensive and Global Strategic Partnership.”

Trump’s remark, delivered during a White House news conference, came shortly after he imposed a sweeping 50% tariff on Indian goods and expressed frustration over India’s oil purchases from Russia. Though critical, Trump softened his stance by calling Modi a “great Prime Minister” and reaffirming the enduring nature of U.S.–India relations.

Modi’s response signals a willingness to preserve the personal rapport and broader diplomatic partnership, even as economic disagreements simmer. It underscores a mutual interest in maintaining ties based on strategic cooperation, despite recent strains.
