The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a high alert warning predicting heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, and intense heatwaves across multiple regions of India between May 18 and 24. Coastal states like Kerala, Karnataka, Goa, and parts of Peninsular India brace for persistent downpours and possible flash floods.
Northeast India, including Assam, Meghalaya, Arunachal Pradesh, and Tripura, will witness heavy to very heavy rainfall with thunderstorms and gusty winds. Delhi will see partly cloudy skies, light rain, and winds up to 50 kmph.
Meanwhile, North India faces a double whammy as Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand are on hailstorm alert, and states like Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Madhya Pradesh prepare for heatwave conditions.
With strong winds, potential tree falls, waterlogging, and power disruptions on the horizon, citizens are urged to stay alert and follow IMD advisories closely during this volatile weather spell.
