Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta has announced plans to host a Global Ayurveda Summit and boost Ayurveda-based start-ups, marking a pivotal moment for India's ancient medicinal heritage. Speaking at the All India Ayurvedic Congress, Gupta emphasized how Ayurveda's global popularity has positioned India as the central hub for traditional wellness.
She lauded Prime Minister Narendra Modi's role in establishing the Ayush Ministry, which has expanded platforms and policies supporting alternative medicinal systems. Gupta revealed that the All India Institute of Ayurveda, modeled after AIIMS, is a landmark step for advancing research and education.
The summit aims to showcase innovations, facilitate expert discussions, and attract global attention to Ayurvedic therapies. The Delhi government will also fund Ayurveda start-ups, encourage yoga innovation, and digitize ancient texts.
With ₹275 crore allocated to alternative medicine in the 2025-26 budget, including ₹100 crore for Ayush, Delhi is positioning itself as a leader in holistic healthcare innovation.
