In a high-stakes IPL 2025 encounter at M. Chinnaswamy Stadium, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) clinched a narrow two-run victory over Chennai Super Kings (CSK), ascending to the top of the league standings.
Batting first, RCB set a formidable target of 214 runs. The innings was anchored by Virat Kohli's brisk 62 off 33 balls, complemented by Jacob Bethell's 55. The highlight, however, was Romario Shepherd's late onslaught—an unbeaten 53 from just 14 deliveries, featuring six towering sixes. Shepherd's blitz included a remarkable 33-run over against Khaleel Ahmed, equaling the second-fastest fifty in IPL history.
CSK's chase was spearheaded by Ayush Mhatre, who scored a valiant 94 off 48 balls, and Ravindra Jadeja's resilient 77* from 45 deliveries. Despite their efforts, CSK concluded their innings at 211/6, falling agonizingly short of the target.
This victory marked RCB's first win at Chepauk since 2008, breaking a 17-year jinx. The match underscored RCB's batting depth and resilience under pressure, while CSK's near-miss highlighted their fighting spirit and the fine margins that define T20 cricket.
