Congress MP and Lok Sabha Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi launched a scathing attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi following Monday's historic stock market crash, triggered by Donald Trump's aggressive global tariff war. Gandhi accused Modi of being “nowhere to be seen” during the financial storm and stated that Trump had “blown the lid off the illusion” of India's economic strength.
With the Sensex plummeting over 2,200 points and the Nifty down by more than 740, Gandhi emphasized the need for India to shift toward a resilient, production-based economy that serves all citizens. He further pointed out that only a tiny fraction of Indians are involved in stock trading and thus remain unaffected by its gains, despite suffering its consequences.
Asian and European markets also tanked, amplifying global financial panic.
