Meet Vaniya Agrawal, Who Challenged Microsoft Leadership Over Palestine?

Microsoft's 50th anniversary event at its Redmond HQ took a dramatic turn when two employees staged pro-Palestinian protests during presentations attended by Bill Gates, Steve Ballmer, and CEO Satya Nadella. AI chief Mustafa Suleyman was interrupted by employee Ibtihal Aboussad, who accused Microsoft of aiding Israeli military actions through AI technology. Minutes later, software engineer Vaniya Agrawal passionately confronted Microsoft's top brass, yelling, “Shame on you all… celebrating in their blood.”

Agrawal, who joined Microsoft in 2023, later announced her resignation in a mass email, citing ethical concerns over the company's alleged involvement in the Israel-Gaza conflict. Her last day will be April 11.

Citing Associated Press reports and human rights allegations, Agrawal called Microsoft's actions “complicit in genocide.” Her protest has sparked fresh debate on corporate responsibility in global conflicts.
