In a concerning security incident, an Indian Army vehicle was targeted by terrorists in the Sunderbani area of Jammu and Kashmir's Rajouri district on Wednesday. The attack took place around 1 PM near Phall village, close to a water tank in the forested region along Sunderbani Malla Road.
According to initial reports, one or two rounds were fired at a 9 JAK Regiment vehicle while it was on patrol. Fortunately, there have been no immediate reports of casualties from the brief exchange of fire.
Officials believe the attackers were hiding in the forest, using the dense terrain to their advantage. The area is known as a traditional infiltration route for militants attempting to cross into Indian territory. As the army vehicle passed through, the terrorists opened fire, prompting the troops to retaliate swiftly.
Following the attack, additional forces were immediately deployed, and a cordon and search operation was launched to neutralize the assailants. The security forces are actively combing the region to prevent any further threats.
