On May 7, 2025, Turkiye and Azerbaijan issued statements supporting Pakistan following India's Operation Sindoor, which targeted nine terrorist sites in Pakistan and PoK in retaliation for the April 22 Pahalgam attack that killed 26.
Turkiye's Foreign Ministry condemned India's strikes as provocative, urging restraint to avoid an “all-out war” and supporting Pakistan's call for an investigation into the attack. Azerbaijan expressed solidarity, condemning the strikes for causing civilian casualties and offering condolences. Qatar also voiced concern, advocating for diplomatic resolution.
While global powers like the US and Israel backed India's anti-terror actions, Turkiye and Azerbaijan's stance highlights regional divisions. India insists the strikes were precise, targeting only terrorist infrastructure. The contrasting responses underscore the delicate balance of diplomacy as tensions escalate between the nuclear-armed neighbors.
