India's Unified Payments Interface (UPI) faced another major outage on Wednesday, marking the second disruption in just a week. Users across platforms like PhonePe, Google Pay, and Paytm reported failed transactions and delays. According to DownDetector, 449 complaints were registered by 8 PM, with 53% of users struggling to transfer funds. Social media buzzed with frustration, as one user humorously remarked, “At this rate, I’ll be washing dishes in a hotel someday.”

A similar outage occurred on March 26, which NPCI attributed to intermittent technical issues. Despite these disruptions, UPI remains the backbone of India's digital economy, with transactions skyrocketing 42% YoY to 93.23 billion in the latter half of 2024.
