If you watch T20 or ODI matches, you must have heard people talk about "death overs." But what does it really mean?
In simple words, death overs are the last few overs of an innings. In T20 cricket, it's usually the last 4–5 overs. In a 50-over match, the last 10 overs are called death overs.
These overs are super important because teams try their best to score lots of runs or take wickets quickly. Some people also call them "slog overs" because batters play big shots to score fast.
For the batting team, strong hitters known as "finishers" come to the crease during this time. Players like MS Dhoni, Jos Buttler, and Kieron Pollard are famous for their powerful hitting in death overs.
On the bowling side, fast bowlers usually take charge. Bowlers like Lasith Malinga, Jasprit Bumrah, and Mitchell Starc are known for their clever and accurate bowling at the death. They bowl yorkers, slower balls, and bouncers to stop runs.
Death overs are full of action, excitement, and drama. They often decide which team wins or loses. So next time you hear about "death overs," you'll know it's the most thrilling part of the match!
