On the occasion of Bangladesh's National Day, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended warm greetings to Chief Adviser Muhammad Yunus, emphasizing the importance of mutual sensitivity in bilateral relations. In his letter, Modi reaffirmed India's commitment to peace, stability, and prosperity with Bangladesh, calling March 26 a testament to their shared history and sacrifices.
Modi's message comes at a delicate time, as India expresses concerns over rising violence against Hindus and the influence of hardline Islamist forces in Bangladesh. Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu also conveyed her greetings to Bangladeshi President Mohammed Shahabuddin.
With both Modi and Yunus set to meet at the BIMSTEC summit in Thailand (April 3-4), all eyes are on whether New Delhi will agree to a bilateral meeting amid diplomatic tensions. The future of India-Bangladesh ties hangs in the balance.
