What does it take to feed 2 million pilgrims during Hajj?

Every year, millions of Muslims from around the world gather in Mecca to perform Hajj, one of the five pillars of Islam. Ensuring that these pilgrims are well-fed during this spiritually and physically demanding journey is a monumental task that requires meticulous planning and coordination.

Special attention is given to vulnerable groups, such as the elderly and those with health conditions, to ensure their dietary needs are met.

 

In addition to meal preparation and distribution, authorities implement strict hygiene and safety protocols. Regular inspections are conducted to ensure food quality, and staff are trained in food safety practices to prevent any outbreaks of foodborne illnesses.
