The Axiom-4 mission, set to carry Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla, Poland’s Sławosz Uznański-Wiśniewski, Hungary’s Tibor Kapu, and US commander Peggy Whitson to the International Space Station (ISS), was postponed on June 10, 2025, due to a liquid oxygen leak in SpaceX’s Falcon-9 rocket. Originally scheduled for June 11 at 5:30 pm IST, the launch was halted after post-static fire inspections revealed the issue, SpaceX announced on X. ISRO confirmed the delay, noting a seven-second hot test exposed the leak in the rocket’s propulsion bay. A new launch date awaits repairs and range availability.
This historic mission, marking the first ISS visit for India, Poland, and Hungary in over 40 years, will see the crew conduct 60 scientific experiments during a 14-day stay. Shukla, an Indian Air Force Group Captain, follows Rakesh Sharma’s 1984 mission, symbolizing India’s return to human spaceflight.
