The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has urged Delhi's Lieutenant Governor V.K. Saxena to undo the merger of four government properties with the 6, Flagstaff Road bungalow, previously serving as former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's official residence.
The BJP has criticized the bungalow's expansion, labeling it "Sheesh Mahal" and alleging unauthorized annexation and extravagant renovations at the taxpayer's expense.
The BJP contends that the modifications violated regulations and involved excessive spending. The party insists that the merged properties should be restored and repurposed for government quarters instead of personal luxury. They argue that public funds were misused to create a lavish residence rather than fulfilling governance needs.
Delhi BJP leaders have made it clear that the next Chief Minister will not reside in the bungalow, which is now under investigation for possible financial irregularities. The party has called for a swift probe into these alleged violations and stressed the need for accountability in government resource utilization.
The BJP demands a fast-tracked investigation into the alleged irregularities surrounding the bungalow's expansion. Meanwhile, opposition leaders have dismissed these accusations as politically driven, claiming that all developments followed due procedure.
As the controversy unfolds, the focus remains on governance ethics, transparency, and proper allocation of public resources, bringing the role of government accountability into the spotlight.
