10 more days, more questions: NIA deepens Pahalgam investigation!

A special court in Jammu on Monday, July 7, 2025, granted the National Investigation Agency (NIA) an additional 10 days of custody for two individuals accused of harbouring Pakistani terrorists involved in the deadly Pahalgam terror attack that occurred in April 2025.

The two accused were arrested on June 22, with a local court initially granting five days of remand. The case was later transferred to the special NIA court, which has now extended the remand based on the agency’s request for further interrogation and evidence collection. Officials stated that the accused allegedly provided logistical support and shelter to the terrorists responsible for the attack, which claimed multiple lives and shook the security establishment in Jammu and Kashmir.

Sources say the NIA is focusing on unearthing the broader terror network and cross-border links, with the current remand period deemed critical for recovering digital evidence and verifying communication trails. The agency believes this extension will be instrumental in identifying other operatives connected to the April attack and preventing future plots.
