In the deeply chilling murder case of 29-year-old Raja Raghuvanshi, a transporter from Indore, investigators from Meghalaya Police confirm this was not an accident—rather, a meticulously plotted murder.
This was their fourth attempt to murder Raja—previous efforts in Guwahati, Nongriat, and between Mawalakhyat and Weisawdong failed. Sonam allegedly lured her husband under the pretext of completing a pilgrimage at Kamakhya Temple before consummation, using the trip to execute the plan.
Police recovered key forensic clues—a mangalsutra and ring at a homestay, a unique machete used in the attack, and phone records linking Sonam, Raj, and the three hired killers.
After briefly going missing, Sonam surrendered in Ghazipur on June 9 and has since confessed to orchestrating the murder and watching as lethal blows were struck. Raj Kushwaha and the three hired assailants—Vishal Chauhan, Akash Rajput, and Anand Kurmi—are now in custody.
Authorities plan to reconstruct the crime at the Weisawdong site soon. As the case unfolds, it gripped India with its shocking betrayal, calculated planning, and violent execution on what should have been a joyous journey.
