Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has announced that only Hindus will be allowed to work at the Tirumala Temple. Any non-Hindu employees currently working there will be relocated to other positions "without hurting their sentiments," Naidu stated.
This decision follows recent action by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), which oversees the temple, against 18 employees allegedly practicing Christianity despite taking an oath to follow Hindu traditions. The board barred them from participating in religious events and resolved to transfer non-Hindu employees from temple administration.
Naidu also revealed plans to construct Venkateswara Swamy temples in all Indian state capitals, reinforcing the temple's religious significance. While supporters see this as a step toward preserving Hindu traditions, critics argue it raises questions about religious inclusivity in temple administration.
Will this move spark further debate on faith-based employment policies in India?
