Amid rising protests over the Waqf (Amendment) Act, the BJP is launching a nationwide outreach campaign ‘Waqf Sudhar Janjagaran Abhiyan’ from April 21 to May 5, aiming to reassure the Muslim community about the Act's intended benefits. The party claims the amendments promote social justice, transparency, and inclusivity, with promises of better representation for women and Pasmanda Muslims on Waqf Boards.

The initiative comes as the Supreme Court examines petitions challenging the Act, especially provisions like ‘waqf-by-user’, non-Muslim representation, and powers granted to collectors. Meanwhile, tensions flared in West Bengal's Murshidabad, with three dead and over 270 arrested following communal violence linked to the law.

BJP leaders blame the TMC for shielding rioters, while TMC accuses the BJP and visiting NCW/NHRC teams of politically motivated disruptions. With the Court's next hearing on May 5, all eyes remain on the Centre's next steps in this escalating legal-political saga.
