Delhi Freezes as Temperature Hits 6.4°C

Delhi witnessed a severe drop in temperature, marking one of the coldest days this season. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) reported a minimum temperature of 6.4°C, triggering an official cold wave warning. Such conditions, caused by icy winds sweeping across northern India, have disrupted daily activities and highlighted the region's vulnerability to extreme weather fluctuations.

Residents woke up to frost-laden landscapes and an unrelenting chill that left streets emptier than usual during the early morning hours. With temperatures significantly lower than the seasonal average, authorities have urged citizens to take necessary precautions, particularly for vulnerable groups such as the elderly, children, and those with pre-existing health conditions. Public transport delays and increased demand for heating solutions have further underscored the impact of this cold spell on urban life.

Meteorologists attribute the sudden plunge in temperature to strong northwesterly winds and clearer skies, which accelerate heat loss during the night. This trend aligns with patterns observed in recent years, raising questions about the growing intensity of seasonal weather changes in the region.

As Delhi braces for potentially colder days ahead, the IMD has advised people to stay updated with weather forecasts and minimize exposure to harsh conditions. The cold wave also serves as a reminder of the broader implications of shifting climate patterns, urging communities to adapt and prepare for evolving challenges.
