India's trusted hygiene brand Dettol is not staying silent after a controversial statement surfaced on entrepreneur Raj Shamani's podcast.
During the show, a self-proclaimed dermatologist, Dr. Manjot Marwah, claimed that applying Dettol Antiseptic Liquid (ASL) directly on wounds could be harmful.
Dettol immediately clapped back, calling the claim "unscientific, mischievous, and misleading." The brand believes this was a deliberate attempt to tarnish their reputation, especially since the doctor failed to mention ASL specifically, yet allegedly created fear around the entire Dettol product range, including soaps.
In an official statement, Dettol emphasized that their ASL has been government-approved, endorsed by the Indian Medical Association (IMA), and used safely for over 90 years in hospitals and homes worldwide.
Calling the podcast part of a "malicious campaign", parent company Reckitt Benckiser India announced they are pursuing legal action against the doctor involved.
Their message to consumers? "Don't fall for false claims- trust the science, not the noise."
