Indian cricketer Yuzvendra Chahal and choreographer Dhanashree Verma have officially finalized their divorce, ending a marriage that began in December 2020.
The couple had been separated for over two years before reaching this conclusion.
As part of the divorce settlement, Chahal has agreed to pay Verma a total alimony of ₹4.75 crore. He has already paid ₹2.37 crore, with the remaining amount to be disbursed following the official divorce decree.
This settlement was expedited due to Chahal's commitments to the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) season, with the Bombay High Court directing the family court to finalize the divorce proceedings promptly.
The divorce has attracted significant public attention, partly due to rumors linking Chahal to RJ Mahvash, a radio jockey and social media influencer. Mahvash has shared cryptic posts on her Instagram account amid the divorce proceedings, further fueling speculation.
The dissolution of Chahal and Verma's marriage has also sparked discussions about alimony laws in India, especially concerning working women. Legal experts note that alimony amounts are determined based on various factors, including the income and financial status of both parties, aiming to ensure a fair settlement.
