Ambedkar Jayanti, celebrated on April 14, marks the birth anniversary of Dr. Bhimrao Ramji Ambedkar India's foremost social reformer, jurist, and architect of the Indian Constitution. Born in 1891 in Mhow, Madhya Pradesh, Ambedkar overcame systemic caste-based discrimination through education, studying at institutions like Columbia University and the London School of Economics. As India's first Law Minister, he was instrumental in drafting the Constitution, advocating for civil rights, social equality, and affirmative action.
This year, the central government has officially declared Ambedkar Jayanti a nationwide public holiday, closing all central government offices and banks to honor his legacy. Recognized with the Bharat Ratna in 1990, Dr. Ambedkar's vision continues to inspire movements for justice and equality. The day is more than a remembrance it's a reaffirmation of the ideals of liberty, fraternity, and dignity for all.
