In a powerful step toward safeguarding Haryana’s youth, the Haryana Professional Forum organized an international seminar at New Delhi’s YMCA, where Delhi Special Commissioner of Police Sagar Preet Hooda led the call for action against rising drug abuse, crime, and illegal migration via the dangerous "donkey route."
Attended by sarpanches from Sonipat and Rohtak, professionals, doctors, lawyers, and social workers, the event saw strong commitment to launching a grassroots awareness campaign. Hooda emphasized the need for collaboration between Sarvakhap Panchayats, local administration, and civil society to prevent the youth from falling prey to addiction, crime, and false migration promises.
Supreme Court advocate Prateek Som and others highlighted alarming statistics: 111 youths from Haryana were deported recently from the US, many trafficked through unauthorized routes. Experts warned of youths ending up as undocumented laborers abroad, disconnected from their families and legal systems.
Speakers from the US and Canada stressed the urgency of awareness over desperation-driven migration. The campaign will focus on education, legal migration pathways, and protecting Haryana’s cultural identity from being tainted by crime and illegal networks.
