In the aftermath of India's Operation Sindoor, China has vowed to play a “constructive role” in ensuring a lasting ceasefire between India and Pakistan. The pledge came during Pakistani Deputy PM and Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar's three-day visit to Beijing, his first after the cross-border strikes.
Dar's talks with Chinese diplomat Wang Yi covered critical issues, including India's decision to suspend the Indus Waters Treaty. China emphasized its strategic partnership with Pakistan, calling the visit highly significant.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mao Ning reaffirmed China's neutral stance, encouraging calm and dialogue between both nuclear neighbours. She added that China supports regional peace and stability and will maintain communication with both countries.
However, she evaded questions about China's alleged military support to Pakistan during the conflict, including the role of air-defense systems and weapon resupply. This visit highlights China's balancing act amid rising Indo-Pak tensions and international scrutiny.
