Madhya Pradesh minister Vijay Shah issued a second apology in a video message for his controversial remarks about Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, calling them a “linguistic mistake.” The statement comes as the Supreme Court monitored SIT continues its investigation into his comments made during a public speech on May 11.
In the new video posted on X, Shah said, “I sincerely apologise to Colonel Sofiya, the Indian Army, and the people of the country.” Unlike his earlier apology, which the Supreme Court dismissed as 'crocodile tears', this video features him with folded hands, admitting fault directly.
Shah’s earlier comments had linked a senior Muslim Army officer to retaliatory military action in a way that sparked outrage across the political spectrum. The Special Investigation Team, ordered by the court, is set to submit its first report by May 28. Shah’s public appearances have been minimal since the incident.
