After a two-year pause, the vibrant Shirui Lily Festival returns to Ukhrul, Manipur, from May 20–24, 2025. Celebrating its 5th edition and the 75th anniversary of the rare Shirui Lily, this state-level festival promises an exciting mix of traditional dances, electrifying rock concerts, adventure sports, indigenous crafts, and local delicacies.
Supported by ₹6.3 crore from the Department of Tourism, the festival marks a significant comeback since the 2023 unrest.
The Shirui Lily, discovered in 1950 by botanist Dr. Frank Kingdon-Ward, is Manipur's state flower and a rare species found only on the Shirui Kashong peak. The festival highlights unique events like the adrenaline-pumping Shirui Lily Grand Prix - a wooden cart race down hilly terrain - and the MTB Downhill Championship set against the stunning Phangrei ridge.
Since 2019, paragliding has added thrill and breathtaking views, making Ukhrul a rising adventure tourism hotspot in Northeast India.
