India's wedding season hits a new high, driving record-breaking hotel bookings and revenue

India’s wedding season is driving an unprecedented surge in hotel bookings and revenues, with many properties reporting record-breaking business. Hotels across the country are experiencing full occupancy, with several achieving their best-ever performance since the pandemic. This season is shaping up to be a landmark period, with some hotels witnessing the most successful wedding bookings in their history.

As reported by The Economic Times, Ashok Singh Rathore, Area Director for Rajasthan at IHCL and General Manager of Jaipur’s Rambagh Palace, noted that this year’s wedding season has surpassed all expectations. “Last month, our property recorded its highest-ever average daily rates and occupancies,” he stated. While room rates typically peak around Rs 1 lakh during Christmas and New Year, the wedding boom has enabled these figures to be reached much earlier.

Rathore attributed this growth to the rising demand for customization, iconic venues, and increased willingness to spend among guests.

Hotel chains are also reaping the benefits of this wedding frenzy. Nikhil Sharma, Managing Director and Area Senior Vice-President for South Asia at Radisson Hotel Group, revealed that the October-December quarter has become the highest revenue-generating period in the company’s history in South Asia. Radisson’s resorts in destinations like Mamallapuram, Lonavala, Karjat, and Udaipur have seen overwhelming demand, with many dates already sold out due to the popularity of destination weddings.

Similarly, Raj Chopra, Chairman and Managing Director of JW Marriott properties in Mussoorie and Goa, reported unprecedented bookings and sales for weddings. He highlighted the scale of this season, mentioning that around 450,000 weddings were expected in Delhi alone over three weeks, underscoring the booming wedding economy across the country.
