Kochi Airport panic: Bomb threat sparks chaos - turns out to be fake!

On the morning of June 13, 2025, Kochi's Cochin International Airport was rocked by tension after officials received a chilling bomb threat via email. The message warned of an RDX explosive planted within the airport premises, demanding immediate evacuation. Panic spread quickly as the Bomb Threat Assessment Committee (BTAC) swung into action, and CISF, Kerala Police, and bomb disposal squads launched an intensive search operation across all terminals.

Flights were delayed, passengers were evacuated, and security protocols were heightened to the maximum level. However, after thorough sweeps involving sniffer dogs, robotic explosive units, and anti-sabotage teams, the threat was declared a hoax by mid-morning. No explosives were found, and normal operations resumed gradually.

Authorities have launched a full investigation into the source of the email, suspecting it could be linked to a pattern of recent fake threats across the state. While the scare turned out to be false, it triggered major security reinforcement and served as a reminder of the fragile balance between vigilance and fear in high-traffic public spaces.
