In a recent video, Mira Rajput Kapoor shared that raw milk is a go-to for both her and her mother. She explained how they use it as a natural toner to keep their skin hydrated and glowing. Actress Sobhita Dhulipala, too, has spoken about using raw milk on her face, praising its soothing and moisturizing qualities.
Raw milk has long been hailed in traditional beauty circles for its natural content of vitamins, minerals, and lactic acid – which can help exfoliate and brighten skin. However, experts warn that what sounds like a simple, natural hack might carry risks.
Dermatologists caution against the direct application of raw milk, primarily due to concerns over bacterial contamination. Being unpasteurized, raw milk can carry harmful bacteria such as salmonella and E. coli, which may lead to skin infections or even more serious health concerns.
While the appeal of going natural is understandable, experts recommend being cautious. They advise conducting a patch test before applying raw milk to the entire face and discourage its use altogether for those with sensitive or acne-prone skin.
The resurgence of this age-old skincare remedy has sparked plenty of online debate. Supporters praise its simplicity and accessibility, while medical professionals urge consumers to be wary of the potential downsides.
