'A Thousand Threads' by musician Neneh Cherry, a memoir that offers a deep dive into her life, music, and personal experiences.
Rachel Clarke's 'The Story of a Heart' provides a compelling exploration of heart transplants and the medical advancements in heart surgery.
Yuan Yang's 'Private Revolutions: Coming of Age in a New China' sheds light on the lives of four women in modern China, portraying their struggles and triumphs in a rapidly changing society.
Chloe Dalton's 'Raising Hare' is a touching account of rescuing a young hare during the COVID-19 pandemic, blending nature writing with personal reflection.
In 'What the Wild Sea Can Be', Helen Scales examines the future of the world's oceans, emphasizing their role in climate change and conservation.
Rounding out the list, Clare Mulley's 'Agent Zo' tells the remarkable story of Elżbieta Zawacka, a World War II resistance fighter and the only female member of Poland's elite resistance unit.
The winner, who will receive a £30,000 prize, will be announced on June 12, 2025, in London. The judging panel, chaired by journalist Kavita Puri, praised the shortlisted books for their originality, accessibility, and depth of research.
