From April 15, 2025, Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport (IGI) will temporarily close Terminal 2 for maintenance, prompting a major shift in airline operations. IndiGo, India’s largest airline by market share, announced that all its flights currently operating from Terminal 2 will be redirected to Terminals 1 and 3 until further notice.
In a statement released Sunday, IndiGo clarified that the move is a part of operational changes due to scheduled maintenance at Terminal 2. Passengers flying with IndiGo will now depart from or arrive at Terminal 1 or Terminal 3. To ease the transition, the airline is notifying passengers via email and WhatsApp, and has also published a comprehensive list of re-assigned flights on its official website.
Akasa Air, another airline currently using Terminal 2, also confirmed that all its Delhi-bound and departing flights will now be routed through Terminal 1 (specifically, 1D).
Coinciding with this development, Delhi Airport’s newly upgraded Terminal 1 is set to become fully operational on April 15. According to Delhi International Airport Limited (DIAL), travelers can expect enhanced passenger amenities, smoother connectivity, and an improved travel experience under the revamped infrastructure.
Travelers are strongly advised to verify their terminal and flight status in advance, either online or by contacting their airline directly, to avoid any inconvenience caused by the terminal changes.
This terminal reshuffle is a temporary but essential step toward improving infrastructure and travel experience at one of India’s busiest airports.
