Delhiites don't just eat Chole Bhature, they worship it! Whether you're in Paharganj, Lajpat Nagar, or Connaught Place, the hunt for the perfect plate of fluffy Bhature and spicy Chole is never-ending. And let's not forget that thick, creamy Lassi to wash it all down!
Did you know? Some say Chole Bhature came from the Middle East, and Delhi's Punjabis gave it their own spicy twist. Another tale tells us that in 1947, a father-son duo from West Punjab started selling it for just 12 annas, and the city never looked back!
Then there's Pishori Lal Lamba, a refugee from Lahore, who introduced this dish at Kwality Eatery in Connaught Place during Partition. From there, Chole Bhature took over North India and even made its way to South Indian Udupi restaurants!
Where to Eat the Best Chole Bhature in Delhi?
1. Sita Ram Diwan Chand, Paharganj - Old-school, legendary, and packed with flavour! Their Chole is thick and masaledar, and the Bhature are stuffed with paneer.
