Wrinkles in your 20s? The shocking truth behind early ageing is finally out

Early signs of ageing are becoming increasingly common among young individuals, primarily due to a drop in collagen levels. Collagen is a vital protein responsible for keeping the skin firm, youthful, and radiant. While it's natural for collagen production to decline with age, experts are observing that even teenagers and those in their 20s are experiencing this loss prematurely.

Nutritionist Shilpa Arora recently addressed this concerning trend on Instagram, highlighting key reasons behind early collagen depletion. Factors such as smoking, frequent alcohol consumption, prolonged exposure to harmful UV rays, and excessive intake of sugar and junk food contribute significantly to damaging collagen production in the body. These modern lifestyle habits, combined with environmental stressors, are accelerating the ageing process in the younger population.

However, the situation is not irreversible. Shilpa emphasizes that a balanced diet can help restore and support collagen synthesis. In particular, foods rich in Vitamin C are crucial, as this vitamin plays a vital role in collagen formation. She recommends simple yet effective dietary additions: a natural drink made from amla (Indian gooseberry), curry leaves, and coconut water is excellent for boosting vitamin C levels. For non-vegetarians, bone broth is a top choice, offering nutrients that directly aid collagen development. Additionally, eggs and dairy products are beneficial due to the amino acids they provide, which are essential building blocks of collagen.

By making conscious nutritional and lifestyle adjustments, young people can preserve their skin’s vitality and delay the visible signs of ageing.
