In response to the shocking gang rape case at a law college hostel in West Bengal, the BJP has dispatched a fact-finding team to Kolkata. The four-member delegation includes former Union Ministers Satpal Singh and Meenakshi Lekhi, along with Rajya Sabha MP Biplab Kumar Deb and Bar Council chairman Manan Kumar Mishra.
The alleged incident occurred at a private law college hostel in the state, sparking widespread outrage and demands for a thorough investigation. While the West Bengal police have made several arrests, the BJP has accused the state government of trying to downplay the incident.
The team’s visit aims to interact with the victim’s family, local authorities, and other stakeholders to gather firsthand information. The BJP plans to submit a detailed report to party leadership and possibly raise the matter in Parliament.
This development further intensifies the political standoff between the TMC-led state government and the BJP, with the latter alleging lawlessness and deteriorating women's safety under current governance.
