In a major shift to India's education system, the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has approved a draft policy to conduct Class 10 board exams twice a year, starting in 2026. The move aims to reduce stress on students and provide them with multiple chances to improve their scores.
Under this new system, students will have the option to appear for both exams and keep their best score. CBSE officials believe this will ease pressure on students, allowing them to perform better without the fear of a single high-stakes exam.
However, the decision has sparked mixed reactions. While some students welcome the flexibility, others fear added burden and extended exam seasons. Parents and educators are also questioning the implementation and effectiveness of this change.
With 2026 fast approaching, one big question remains—will this new system truly help students, or will it complicate things further?
