BREAKING: Finance Minister Sitharaman To Unveil India’s Economic Report Card

New Delhi — The much-anticipated Budget session of 2025 kicks off today with President Droupadi Murmu addressing both houses of Parliament, setting the stage for crucial economic and political debates. Following her speech, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will table the Economic Survey 2025, offering a comprehensive review of India's economic trajectory over the past year and projections for 2025-26.

The Economic Survey, a pre-Budget document, will be presented in Lok Sabha at 12 PM and in Rajya Sabha at 2 PM. It is expected to provide key insights into pressing economic issues, including slowing GDP growth, the weakening rupee, and subdued consumer demand. Additionally, it will assess sectoral performance, inflation trends, and fiscal policy outlooks.

However, the session is likely to be stormy, with opposition parties set to challenge the government on multiple fronts. A major flashpoint is the tragic Maha Kumbh stampede in Prayagraj, which claimed 30 lives. Additionally, the opposition is expected to raise concerns over the controversial Waqf (Amendment) Bill and other key legislations. The government plans to introduce 16 new bills in the first half of the session, adding to the already heated atmosphere.

With Sitharaman set to present the Union Budget on Saturday for the eighth consecutive time, expectations are high regarding economic recovery measures, job creation strategies, and tax reforms. The Budget and Economic Survey will play a critical role in shaping India's financial roadmap amid global uncertainties.

As political tensions rise, all eyes are on the Economic Survey's findings and their impact on upcoming fiscal policies. Will the government's economic vision align with public expectations? The coming days will reveal all.
