Coca-Cola India is set to shake up the alcoholic beverage market with Lemon-Dou, a ready-to-drink cocktail inspired by Japan's chuhai. Currently being tested in Goa and Maharashtra, this marks Coca-Cola's first move into India's alcohol segment.
Lemon-Dou is a unique blend of shochu and zesty lime, offering a refreshing twist. Priced at ₹230 for a 250 ml can, it caters to evolving consumer preferences. A Coca-Cola spokesperson confirmed that production is handled separately from non-alcoholic beverages, ensuring quality and compliance.
With India's alcohol market highly regulated and taxed, Coca-Cola is taking a cautious yet strategic approach. The company aims to diversify its portfolio, following successful launches in Japan, China, and the Philippines.
This move aligns with Coca-Cola's vision as a "total beverages company", with global collaborations like Absolut Vodka & Sprite RTD cocktails also in the pipeline. Will Lemon-Dou become India's next big drink? Time will tell!
