China vs. Dalai Lama: Who Will Choose Tibet’s Next Spiritual Leader?

China has intensified its stance on the succession of the Dalai Lama, declaring that Beijing—not the Tibetan Buddhist community—will choose Tibet's next spiritual leader. The Chinese government dismissed the Dalai Lama's authority, emphasizing that the selection process must follow state-controlled regulations.

This statement comes amid long-standing tensions between China and Tibet, as Beijing continues to assert control over the Tibetan spiritual and political landscape. The Dalai Lama, currently in exile, has repeatedly stated that reincarnation is a spiritual matter, not a political one, further fueling the global debate over Tibet's religious freedom.

As China tightens its grip, the international community watches closely. Will Tibet's religious autonomy be further eroded, or will this spark fresh resistance from the Tibetan people?
